The challenge was to write about the last day of work...so I wrote about the last day of building the pyramids, and of the modern day archeologist who discovered the golden cap originally place on top of one of them. It hasn't happened as far as I know- bbut it makes for a good story!

Crowning Glory
By JoAnn Abbott
Skyen
and Ted Kiper
Sun glowing red in a fading sky
I watch it sink as my work burns dry
I've painted now on a thousand tiers
Histories built of a thousand years
Bright eye of Horus is gazeing down
On the final piece, it’s a golden crown
To cap all our work see the spire point high
To the stars gleaming in the sky
Now, my work is done
The world will know
That I was here
My crowning glory
Will tell my story
Year after year
I have been blessed by the gods my fathers
Given a vision a task and dream--
Since I was born ruling with such power
I know that I‘ll live eternally.
So here I’ve made a new mountain rise up.
Reaching the gods in the heavens high--
The pure golden crown of my great achievement
Destined to stand to the end of time.
Now, my work is done
The world will know
That I was here
My crowning glory
Will tell my story
Year after year
Bright golden point meant to crown a tomb
Missing for over 5 thousand years
Stolen and melted, it was assumed
I tracked you down, and at last you’re here
Look at the shine! After years of hunting
Searching for clues now I’ve proved I’m right
Bring in the cameras and lift it slowly
My name will circle the globe this night!
Now, my work is done
The world will know
That I was here
My crowning glory
Will tell my story
Year after year
(S)Now----------
(J&T) Now Now
(Ted)my work is done
(Jo&S echo) my work is done
(Jo)The world will know------
(S&T) The world will know
(all)That I was here (a harmony would be so nice here!)
(T)My crowning glory
(S)Will tell my story
Year after year
Year after year
Year after year
